Superb night last week with Jason Clarke from Mindsatwork, long time sponsor and supporter of the Upstart Challenge. He delivered a big day for us and our key stakeholders! The Upstart team completed an innovative, creative training day with Jason, we tore apart our assumption around our organisation and are excited to take our learnings and apply them. This was followed by an inspiring evening session for all who came to the Innovate: A Masterclass, Jason took the participants on a design thinking journey asking them to reevaluate how they view problems! We loved having Josh from Lara Secondary College and last year's Upstart Challenge Geelong Young Entrepreneur of the Year join us for a week of work experience. He had the opportunity to see how a small business works on a day to day basis; the ups, the challenges and all the cake we eat! A lovely addition to the team he also took part in our team training day plus a whole lot of data entry 😂😂😂 Thank you Josh! ... See MoreSee Less

Upstart Challenge

GALS: Girls as Leaders in STEM launched yesterday at the Geelong Regional Libraries and will run from June 27 till July 11 in the main foyer. Make sure you head down and check out what the incredible GALS have created, with innovative solutions to tackle industry and environmental problems.

Working with Deakin University, Geelong Industry and the Upstart Team, all students involved (Grade 5 through to Year 8) from across the Geelong region came together to design solutions to issues such as; what to do with excess waste in high schools - turn it into 3D Printer Filaments that can be used to print rulers, a sensory playground for children that may struggle with traditional playground designs plus many more!

Many thanks to Libby Coker MP, Deakin University, A/Prof Cora Campbell, The Invergowrie Foundation and Geelong Regional Libraries for supporting the program! #STEM
