Big Ideas Challenge

  • There is no fee for entry.

  • Entries must be submitted via the website www.upstartchallenge.com.au by completing the Big Ideas entry form

  • Your entry can be in the form of a video (max. 3 minutes) or in writing (max. 500 words)

  • Entries may be made by:

    • Teams of 2 or 3 individuals residing in Australia and currently enrolled in years 7-12, with the lead applicant enrolled at a Secondary School/or equivalent within the G21 region.
    • Teams of 2-3 individuals residing in Australia who are currently employed by a Secondary School or equivalent with the lead applicant employed at a Secondary School within the G21 region.
    • Teams of 2 to 3 individuals residing in Australia who comprise of both students and staff, with the lead applicant enrolled at or employed by a Secondary School or equivalent within the G21 region.
  • Each team may enter as many ideas as they wish.

  • Entries must select from the categories Commercial Idea or Community Idea for each Big Idea they submit.

  • Community Idea – one that sets out to solve a community problem. E.g. homelessness, health communication/education to third world residents.

  • Commercial Ideas- one that sets out to solve a problem/deliver a service or product and make lots of $$$$

  • Entries must be the original work of entrants.

  • You can be part of as many different teams as you wish.

  • To qualify for the prizes, entries to the Big Ideas competition must be submitted by 23 May 2016

  • All entries shall be assessed independently with the Judging Panel selecting the winning 12 entries

  • The Big Ideas winners shall be announced and awarded prizes at our presentation event in Geelong. At least one member of each team is required to attend to collect their prize, all team members are encouraged to attend.

  • All Big Ideas winning teams shall be invited to proceed to the Create phase of the Upstart Challenge. This involves team mentoring by industry experts and workshops to develop your Big Idea into a business plan for your chance to be selected as a finalist to enter the Pitching Showdown.

  • The Judging Panel reserves the right to disqualify any entry.

  • Family members of the directors of Upstart Entrepreneurial Challenge Ltd are ineligible to enter the Upstart Challenge.
